‘Temporary Home’

InspiredON by Music — Carrie Underwood’s evocative song, ‘Temporary Home‘ is a story that talks about wherever we are in life, we have to remember that the place we’re in is just temporary — we’re just passing through. She wrote the song after reading Pastor Rick Warren’s book, ‘A Purpose-Driven Life.’ The song threads the temporary home theme through the experiences of three people: a foster child, a young mother in a halfway house, and an old man on his deathbed. Each of them are facing what appears to be hardship, but who each realize that what they’re going through at the moment is just temporary — that they’re merely passing through life on their way to something better.

She explains how the song came to be written and her thoughts about the story that’s told in ‘Temporary Home’ in this video from YouTube:

From the song …

“This is my temporary home
It’s not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I’m passin’ through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I’m going.
I’m not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary home.”
